MOU between Banking Finance and Insurance Institute of Nepal (BFIN) and Centurion University of Technology and Management, Odisha, India has been signed.
22 February, 2021 Bhubaneswar, Odisha, India: A Memorandum of Understanding between Banking Finance and Insurance Institute of Nepal (BFIN), Kathmandu, Nepal and Centurion University of Technology and Management (CUTM), Odisha, India was signed on 22nd February 2021 by Dr. Binod Atreya, Managing Director, BFIN and Dr. Supriya Pattanayak, Vice Chancellor, CUTM, amid at a ceremony held at Centurion University, Bhubaneswar, Odissa, India. The ceremony was attended by President Prof. Mukti Mishra, Vice President, Vice Chancellor, Directors, professors and other faculty members of CUTM along with Nepalese Delegates from the micro finance institutions attending a training program on “Nano, Micro and SME Entrepreneurship Eco-System Development” scheduled from 22-26 February , 2021 at the university premises.
The purpose of this Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is to underpin the development of a long-term partnership between BFIN and CUTM for conducting and coordinating in the areas of training, education, research and consultancy Services, skill development Programs, SMEs development, Information Technology and other allied services offered by both the Institutions.
The agreement endorses that CUTM will provide the technical services to BFIN and other banks and financial institutions in Planning, conducting feasibility studies for the establishment of technical and vocational Institute/college in collaboration with BFIN and BFIs along with other government bodies.
During the ceremony President Prof. Mukti Mishra welcomed all the delegates and assured to help in any way for the transfer of Knowledge, skill and other services to BFIN and Nepalese BFIs. Vice Chancellor Dr. Supriya Pattanayak expressed her happiness for this strategic alliance with BFIN and noted that women participation and empowerment is necessary for entrepreneurship development.
Dr. Binod Atreya extended heartfelt gratitude to Centurion University for organizing five days residential Training Program on “Nano, Micro and SME Entrepreneurship Eco-System Development” which is being attended by 17 delegates from the microfinance sector. Dr Atreya highlighted the need for integrated model of entrepreneurship development inclusive of vocational education, skill development and guarantee of job placement, which has been the need for Nepal to create job opportunities to unskilled and semi-skilled people and believed that the model implemented by the Centurion University would be very useful to enhance the livelihood of both rural and urban people in Nepal.
Netra Prasad Joshi, Board of Director, Kissan Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Ltd, Nepal addressed that the replication of the skill development and vocational training in CUTM can be done in Nepal. Mr. Sundar Prasad Shrestha, AGM, Laxmi Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Ltd., Nepal put forwarded not only finances but the Microfinance should also focus on the skill development of the clients and family members. Mr. Lalmani Joshi, Chairman, Swadeshi Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Ltd., Nepal talked about the coordination required with the Nepal Government for the setup of the skill development and vocational training center. Vice President of the Centurion University, Dr Rao extended thanks to BFIN and all the Nepalese delegates for their visit to learn the eco model of entrepreneurship development implemented by the Centurion University.
