22nd December 2023, Kathmandu: The Banking, Finance and Insurance Institute of Nepal (BFIN) in collaboration with the "India-Nepal Centre" of PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) organized the second edition of the "Nepal BFSI Summit 2023" on December 22nd, 2023, at Hotel Radisson, Kathmandu. The summit aimed to share banking innovations' best practices, foster collaboration in the financial sector, and strengthen economic relations between India and Nepal.
Key dignitaries included Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat, Minister of Finance, Government of Nepal, as the Chief Guest, alongside Amb Mr Naveen Srivastava, Ambassador of India to Nepal; Mr Maha Prasad Adhikari, Governor, Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB); Dr Ram Kumar Phuyal, Member, National Planning Commission (NPC), Government of Nepal. The summit addressed pressing economic challenges and served as a strategic platform for economic recovery, with a focus on the pivotal role of the BFSI sector.
Key takeaways encompassed identifying areas for economic growth, exploring financial sector innovations, addressing HR challenges, and enhancing bilateral cooperation between India and Nepal. The joint initiative by BFIN and PHDCCI India-Nepal Centre facilitated collaborative growth, attracting participation from government decision-makers, industry leaders, regulators, diplomats, and think tanks.
This summit contributed to strengthened regional cooperation in the BFSI sector in Nepal and South Asia.
